Mission Statement

At The Animal Protection Party we concur with the words of Alice Walker who said: The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for white, or women created for men. We also believe that in a democracy the ultimate power, and therefore the ultimate force for change, is the ballot box. History has proven this time and again. To this end, The Animal Protection Party will campaign to end the suffering, abuse and exploitation of all animals using the framework of the British electoral system.

'Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as crazy, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.'

Jack Kerouac

Animal Protection Party's Aims

Ever felt like you’re a small pawn being used in a much bigger game? When was the last time you felt your vote really made a difference? How many times have politicians promised you something and then not delivered?

Want to send a clear message to the politicians that you’re sick and tired of hearing their empty promises? Want to start taking control? Want to feel your voice makes a difference?

At The Animal Protection Party we believe your voice and your vote counts and that by using both, you can make a difference.

We are told we should use our vote; that by not using our vote, we are failing our duty as responsible citizens; that we are somehow dishonouring those in the past who fought to ensure that everyone had that right.

At The Animal Protection Party, we understand the apathy that people feel. We understand why not voting is their form of protest against a corrupt system. We understand, because many of us have felt and done the same. Why bother voting when the only time a politician wants to talk to you or pretends to listen is when they want your vote, and once they have it, you’re no longer relevant - until of course the next election that is!

We live in a supposed democracy, but it is a democracy in which only your vote (not your opinion) is valued, because politicians ride on it and thousands like it in order to get into power. We live in a supposed democracy in which those who speak out against injustices, against the exploitation of other species and against the destruction of the environment are labelled as extremists. They are labelled as extremists because big business fears them, and because big business dictates the conduct and the policies of the government.

At The Animal Protection Party we are not anti business, but what we are against is the disproportionate amount of control over what should be OUR government that has been elected and voted for by the people. The moguls in the large corporations are but a tiny fraction of those voting but they are able to dictate government policy.

Big business corporations control everything from food to health to the environment, and they are not driven by concern for those issues, but by greed:

  • The lure of wealth from genetically engineered products
  • the ruthless exploitation of the environment;
  • agri-business in which animals are merely living machines;
  • the manufacture of (dangerous) pharmaceutical products, not for the well being of the public but to increase the profits of the massive pharmaceutical corporations.
As a result of big business monopoly, government policy is failing to address the issues most critical in today’s troubled world. It is failing to educate the public, protect the public, listen to the public, represent the public and to safeguard the world which we all share. That policy is leading us into wars we do not want, destabilising the already severely fragmented continents and causing increasing rifts in multi-cultural societies instead of seeking to restore them. That policy is failing to do its duty to the electorate. It is turning its back on democracy and doing nothing to preserve what is left of this beautiful planet, which we call ours.

Instead of choosing not to vote, there is another way you can protest, another way you can make your voice be heard where it matters, where your vote and your opinion will count. So why not vote for The Animal Protection Party and show the politicians that you are taking control.

For the first time in British electoral history, The Animal Protection Party will help give people back their voice, will allow them to Speak up and Speak out and to make a real difference. That is what democracy is about and should be about, what we have at the moment is nothing more than a charade.

The Animal Protection Party want to take power away from the politicians and give it back to you. Politicians only listen when under threat – it is when they are most likely to make changes.

The Animal Protection Party will not enter into any alliances with other parties; alliances are about watering down one's policies. The Animal Protection Party are determined to affect real and meaningful change and that doesn’t include doing deals with anyone.

The Animal Protection Party. The new face of green politics.
